Overview

terraTEM provides a Time Domain EM (TDEM) transmitter and receiver in one unit with high speed sampling (500 KHz) with single or three channel (optional) receivers and a 10 amp transmitter.  The unit operates on a Pentium class processor and is controlled through a 38 cm. (15”) LCD ‘touch screen’ with a smart menu system and capability to display the data to conductivity depth-sections in the field.

The enhancements to the terraTEM include a high powered transmitter (50 amps), remote and downhole receivers and software.  Click on brochures for details.

terraTEM and it's accessories are designed and manufactured by Monex Geoscope Pty. Ltd.

terraTEM Features

  • The internal transmitter provides 10 amp power (max. 240 watts) to the loop cable.
  • Built-in receiver provides high speed 500 kHz sampling, single input as standard.
  • The user interface comprises a large 38 cm (15”) colour touch screen LCD monitor and provides full control of the acquisition display and processing of the TDEM data.
  • Menus are designed to allow intuitive and rapid transition between acquisition parameters and data display.
  • The terraTEM is packaged with data reduction and processing software and can generate onsite standard profile and decay plots, apparent conductivity pseudo-sections and contour plan maps.  Images can be saved as bitmaps and inserted directly into reports.
  • The terraTEM comes standard with three (3) sets of multiple time gates to 500 msecs delay.
  • The gain functions on the terraTEM include 10 selectable gain settings from 1 to 8,000.
  • The stacking options on the terraTEM are from 1 to 65,536 stacks.
  • System parameters are stored automatically with each sounding for post-survey quality assurance.
  • Data is stored in a 4 GByte solid-state memory.  This provides the user with essentially unlimited storage space (up to 500,000 soundings).
  • Data is transferred to a desktop PC and upgrades loaded by using a standard USB port.
  • The terraTEM is powered by an external 24V battery pack allowing 6-8 hours of continuous operation.
  • All connectors are external to the case, allowing easy transportation without having to shutdown between sites.

Enhancements

  • Three (3) simultaneous channels for maximum survey efficiency and high resolution.
  • Spectral analysis, combined with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) options, allows the user to monitor and identify local sources of noise; these may be removed ultimately using additional filters specific to local site conditions.
  • The continuous surveying option allows the terraTEM system to be used for high-resolution continuous recording with integrated GPS positions at each station.
  • Additional Stacking, Gain and Timing functions, which include a variety of stacking options, including sferic rejection, multiple time gates which are user selectable and an auto-gain function.
  • GPS or cable synchronisation with an external transmitter.
  • Enhanced internal transmitter control providing faster turn-off capability of the in-built transmitter.
  • A 20 channel GPS mounted on the front panel, allows for location information to be automatically recorded with soundings.
  • VecTEM 4 interface module (for down-hole surveying with VecTEM 4 receiver probe).

Applications

terraTEM provides an attractive option for geotechnical and environmental surveys as well as conventional surveys for minerals and groundwater.

The unit makes TEM more accessible to students and is ideal for teaching and research.
